Charming Old Folk Art Oil on Board Painting of Hunting Spaniels (with Best Faces Ever) in Landscape

A nicely painterly view of meandering stream and tall trees and distant hills here, but  really it is all about these dogs! I could look at those soulful faces all day, and then again tomorrow; what a marvelously expressive pair, super folky but quite regal at once. I purchased this one from a dealer in Tennessee, and it looks like it is signed at lower right, but the ground is so dark it is difficult to make out.  Earlyish 20th century I would guess, in an oak frame that I think is likely not that old, but I think suits it pretty well. Frame is 13 3/4" t x 10 5/8" wide; painting 12" x 9". Oil on board and in very good condition. Strung with a piece of string on reverse; kind of makeshift but does the job.
