Found on what felt like a very dark week in the life of this country, this mid 19th century American "shackle bolts" box/crate struck me as particularly resonant. (Dark times lead to dark readings). Found in New Hampshire, it looks to have once functioned as a drawer, with pull removed from one end leaving what looks like a frowning face behind. Held together with rectangular iron nails, thick black painted lettering over stained exterior. 16 3/4" x 6 1/16" x 6" t. Very sturdy and sound, rich patina.
