Lovely Matte Green Glazed Antique Weller Arts and Crafts Jardiniere
In my dreams are beautiful wood paneled rooms filled wth nothing but books and plants potted in matte green jardinieres like this one! What could be better?! I think I'd plant this one with a mock orange or little lemon tree, whose white buds then bright fruit would make the green seem all the richer. So pretty. I am pretty certain this was made by Weller, c. 1920s. These were made using molds and vary based on how many times the mold had been used; here, the patterning is quite sold edged, telling us it had already been well used. Plenty of irregularities, glaze drips, etc. which is part of what I love about these. Glaze crazing as evident and one dark spot as documented, I believe indigenous to it, but no chips, cracks or other issues. 7 1/2 diameter, 6 1/8" t; interior of lip measures 6 3/4" across.
