I believe this is a late-ish 19th century carpet stretcher. I just love it as an object. The carpet stretchers I have seen of this sort have rows of teeth; here instead a sharp but lovely six petal flower pattern stretched across its surface and nailed to the wooden support, with a perfect orange painted reverse. A satisfying thing. 10 7/16 x 6 7/8” including iron loops x 5/8” thick. Very good antique condition.
