Obatala: Obatala, meaning king of the white cloth, is the eldest of all the Orisha, and he is revered as the king of kings. Under the authority of his father Olorun, Obatala brought the Earth and all its living creatures into existence and is therefore considered the creator of all mankind.   Seen as the quintessential father figure, Obatala watches over all the younger Orisha, intervening in their arguments and disagreements. Due to this aspect of his personality, he is widely respected as a fair and patient judge, aiding the innocent and punishing those who are guilty. He is recognized as the Orisha of leadership, wisdom, knowledge, justice and fairness, and governs over military forces.
