Richard Tuttle: PrintsHardcover, 144 pages. 172 color illustrationsPublished by Bowdoin College Museum of Art, 201 Richard Tuttle is a post-minimalist artist who works with a range of media including sculpture, drawing, printmaking, and painting. In 2014, Bowdoin College Museum of Art presented the exhibition Richard Tuttle: A Print Retrospective and this accompanying monograph. Richard Tuttle Prints reveals, through reproductions of the prints as well as writings by contributing authors, the complexity of the artist’s creative method. Chronicling a selection of 38 projects dating from 1973 through 2013 (five of which were published by Crown Point Press), curator Christina von Rotenhan contextualizes each project in brief and lucid summaries. Though visually simple, Tuttle’s prints are crafted with carefully considered materials, colors, and forms. The catalog is a cohesive synopsis of Richard Tuttle’s journey in printmaking.
