"Doo Wop" *Hip-Hop 50 Limited Edition*
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop, Inspired by Ms. Lauryn Hill's 1998 music video for Doo Wop (That Thing), this acrylic painting captures the side-by-side block party scene. On the left side, Ms. Hill is singing onstage, set in 1967, with a beehive hairstyle and retro attire, accompanied by background singers, reminiscent of Gladys Knight and The Pips. On the right side, the setting is the same Washington Heights, New York block, only 30 years later, with Ms. Hill performing with a live band. This detailed visual captures the essence of the music video itself, which was directed by Monty Whitebloom and Andy Delaney of Bigtv.
