CELESTITE (or CELESTINE) - Great specimen from Madagascar Celestite (or Celestine) is my personal favorite of all stones and I treasure my personal collection of these beautiful light blue crystals.  In my more selfish moments I would keep them all, but most of the time I want to share them with everyone.  Celestite is a mineral form of Strontium Sulfate.  It was named for its delicate blue color.  The mineral is fairly soft (Mohs hardness 3-3.5) so it is generally too soft for use in jewelry.  Celestite is a fairly dense (heavy) mineral.  On this specimen the matrix has been removed and the back polished by hand by the artisans of Madagascar. Celestite is considered to be an important stone in metaphysical use and an important component of the healer's accoutrements.   WEIGHT:   3.1 ounces.
