To prevent the loss of sampled material during retrieval, the AMS 5/8" Thread Sand Auger uses a closed bit design with a restricted opening. The AMS 5/8" Thread Sand Auger has a cylinder like the regular soil auger, but the inner edges of the sand auger bits touch at their mid point. This makes the AMS 5/8" Thread Sand Auger a much more reliable auger in lose, unconsolidated soil conditions. AMS 5/8" Thread Sand Auger: 2-1/4", 2-3/4", 3-1/4", and 4" available.
