The Red Room

Inspiration The eponymous red room of this painting is the artist's living room, a place where the red walls envelop the space in a world of comfort and evoke the feeling of home. The sunlight streaming in from the window over the sofa and onto the floor, reflecting a gold light on the mantle and in the paintings on the wall, gives this piece a nineteenth-century feel, of this nineteenth-century house, the same century as the artist's sensibility.
