Another very nice piece for my Native American Pueblo Pottery Canteen Collection. It is an early Acoma Polychrome Pottery Canteen, attributed to Lucy Lewis, Ca 1930, #1778. Details follow below. Native American, Sky City, New Mexico, Acoma Pueblo, ca. 1930. Wonderful pottery canteen of bulbous form painted in black and orange over white base. Decorated on one side with superb fine-line design of repeating snowflakes" in a style first made famous by Lucy Lewis in this time period. During this period she was not the luminary that she would become and often only signed her work with the location of where the item was made, including "Sky City, Acoma, NM.
