MORE INFORMATION Weigh down your fermented vegetables using this fermentation weight. Keeping vegetables weighted under the brine helps prevent them from drying out and can reduce the risk of mold. Approximately 3 in. (8 cm) in diameter. Fits our Fermented Vegetable Masters and similarly sized crocks and containers. Fits most wide-mouth half-gallon canning jars, though it may be difficult to maneuver weights through the jar opening. Lead-free. Hand wash with white vinegar or warm water. Do not use soap. PLEASE NOTE: Weights are ideal for whole or cut vegetables. For shredded or very small pieces of cut vegetables, use multiple sets of weights or strips of cabbage leaf crisscrossed over the top of the vegetables and tucked down the sides of the jar. Ensure cabbage strips are well submerged under the brine.
