First Light

There is something incredibly special about witnessing the sunrise and I will always give up sleep to chase the early morning light. When photographing the sunrise, I always incorporate other elements in the photo to add interest to the rising sun. As beautiful as a sunrise may be, it needs more from a compositional standpoint. This lifeguard stand offers just that extra bit to the image. As the first light fell upon me, I circled the stand looking for the side and angle offering the best lighting. This image seen here is just the right subject. I really enjoy how the warm light illuminates the red and white stripes of the lifeguard stand. The bicycle that leans against the structure is a welcomed bonus.
