Dreaming of Dances Note Cards

How many have seen the “Nutcracker”? How many of you have had young dancers in the “Nutcracker”? It is a Holiday necessity. With two aspiring dancers in the house, it was in our house every year. Even I was once in a Nutcracker. What is it like being in a Nutcracker production? Hours and hours of practice. September, October and frantic early November. Over and over on entrances and exits. Over and over on crowd scenes and large stagings. But there is something special when you start to feel it coming together. By November 1st, it is nightly practices and costume fittings. And that is where I come head to head with the wonderful rose. Costumes. This rose has tutu written all over it. Particularly young dancer tutu. The ones that have so many layers, that learning how to put it on is a practice session all unto itself. Then there are the speed changing practices.
