I love going to the Rose Garden in the very early morning. Sunrise early. For a few reasons: There is practically no one else there, so I do not have to explain my joyous outbursts. And the lighting. Lighting is everything in photography. Too much light and the starkness will dampen the amazing colors. Too little light and everything becomes muddled, again losing the amazing colors. Just after sunrise is perfect. I get an hour or two, before the sun is glaring. Then there are the moments that prove everything is right. This rose bush is found in the open and not in the shade. And it is at the bottom of the garden, for me about an hour in. Sometimes I am racing to get to the bottom, before the sun really rises and gets harsh. But on this day, part of the garden was closed and I got to the bottom before the sun was very high. This is just an amazing moment of a rose facing east and greeting the sun.
