Wilderness Trail Rye "Rye Ham" (OCBS)

⁦Nose: The nose is quite reserved in the beginning. However, slowly and steadily, there come vanilla and raisin, then caramel and cherry with some hint of rye. There's oak flying around, but very gentle, almost a little grassy. Palate: Brown sugar-like sweetness with light char. Since it's 100 ABV, there are some firm bites but not too harsh. After that, oak comes to the show, still gentle though. The liquor tastes oily and rich. With a little water, the sustaining oak resembles citrus zest, making the liquor taste like grape fruit or pomelo. More rye comes out. Now the bite-turned gingery heat feels warm. Finish: There is some malty sweetness. The oak spice stays, but not astringent, feeling nutty. Apple skin afterwards.
