The c-Fos protein, or FBJ murine viral (v-Fos) oncogene homolog, is a member of the Fos family of transcription factors. C-Fos forms heterodimers with proteins of the Jun family of transcription factors to form the AP-1 (Activator Protein-1) complex, which regulates critical cellular processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. C-Fos has been demonstrated to play a critical role in angiogenesis, bone development, and in the progression of cancer.
