This is an original Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, models 670 and 671, initially designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956. These are exceptional early examples and feature freshly-refinished Brazilian Rosewood panels. The upholstery is done in a dark brown leather. The down-filled cushions are completely original, and to find them intact is becoming increasingly rare. The shock mounts have labels indicating that they were redone by Herman Miller in recent years. The presence of three holes found under the armrests also indicates early production. The ottoman has boot glides as opposed to threaded glides, indicating circa first year production. The chair also has 1/8 inch threads on the base, a very special sign of extra early production. This was changed very early on, around the same time that the swivel ottoman was phased out.
