Table Lamp from Antique Royal Delft Oud Perzisch (Nieuw Delft)–Luna
Meet Luna! Part of our special Delft Persian collection, she is a one-of-a-kind lamp lovingly handcrafted from a rare, antique (circa 1910-1936), hand-painted Royal Delfts (De Porceleyne Fles) Oud Perzisch, Nieuw Delft style vase. In gorgeous tones of blue and turquoise, the lamp base has two beautifully painted peacocks, the symbol of royalty in Persia, on the front with lovely detailed floral and geometric patterns throughout. As the name suggests, this was a complete new product for Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) in terms of decoration and manufacture. A dark-firing clay was first coated with a white engobe layer upon which the painted decoration was applied followed by a transparent glaze. The decorations were designed by Leon Senf, the head painter and most important designer at De Porceleyne Fles, who had been inspired for this series by patterns on Persian pots dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. There are also similarities to the later artistry of Ottoman (or Iznik) ceramics. We’ve paired it with a custom contemporary lampshade in a luminous soft ivory satin with an inner platinum lining, made in an atelier near Amsterdam, and a turquoise sage cord. Height: 57 cm (22.4 in) with shade Width: 28 cm (11 in) with shade E27 bulb fitting. We can adapt the plug depending on the country you will use it in. We ship worldwide! Personal delivery/pick-up is also possible in the greater Amsterdam area.
