Verdite is a light to dark-green metamorphic rock, and is a variety of Fuchsite, which is itself a form of Muscovite. It appears green because of traces of Chromium, and can range from translucent to opaque. This exquisite green stone is also known as African Jade or Buddstone. and was discovered in North Kaap River, South Africa in areas where gold was found.
