An architectural, twiggy shrub with very tiny leaves and flowers. Zig-zagging stems are BLACK in winter and smoky-grey in summer. Tiny, deep red blooms in spring are followed by small, round green fruits. The leaves emerge bright green, then age to dark greenish-black, then gold in fall. Exceptional drought tolerance once established. Fabulously weird! Endemic to New Zealand. Mature size: 3-8 feet T & 2-4 feet W Minimum temperature: -5° F
