Circa 1930s. Up or down, though down would likely have you hiding the pull switch. Meant to be hardwired. Wonderful shape, from The Netherlands. We were going to use them in one of the bathrooms, but went another direction. European wiring. About 7" long, 4" wide and 4" deep.
