'Chiku' the Hinoki Cypress - #440
This one-of-a-kind tree stands apart from the rest. What you see in the photos are what you get, and there will never be another one like it. I’m Chiku, the Chirimen Hinoki Cypress. My evergreen shoots grow upright in irregular clusters of different shapes in bluish green tones. I'm basically a living and moving sculpture. I tend to retain clumps of seed cones in the spring time which may look like deformities but this is completely natural. Pinch off a leaf tip and crush it for the classic Hinoki fragrance. My wood is lemon scented and rot-resistant, which is why you find me in Japanese temples and baths. I stay green all year, so you can enjoy my form even on the coldest days. Remember I am an outdoor tree. Place me in a morning-sun or partial-shade location, and water me well by placing my pot in a bowl of water up to the rim. Do this once my soil begins to dry.
