Danza del Cielo

Edition #50 Notes Designed with Menka Desai-Crawford, an architect turned artist who paints designs in brilliant colors onto paper, and often adorns the artwork with embroidery, beads, and other dimensional objects. Menka painted two images of adorable toucans, that will eventually become a part of a larger mosaic that works as either individual pieces or one big piece as part of Mensa's personal work. You can already see some of the other birds on her Instagram. For our collaboration we used two connecting panels as the front and back of the notebook cover's design. The thread, bookcloth, and endsheet colors echo tones from the cover illustration, altogether making for a vibrant design.
