LTM is pleased to announce the reissue on CD of both albums by cult duo Devine & Statton, featuring vocalist Alison Statton (Young Marble Giants, Weekend) and guitarist Ian Devine (Ludus, Low Gods). Recorded in Brussels early in 1990, Cardiffians is the duo’s second album. Most of the twelve tracks were written by Ian Devine, except Silence (co-written with Alison) and their endearing cover of Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue. “Bittersweet songs about sunshine, rain, snapshots of the past, lovers and crests falling – a polished gem” said Melody Maker, while the NME imagined “Everything But The Girl performing the Fifth Dimension’s Up, Up and Away.” Cardiffians features a fuller band sound that debut set The Prince of Wales.
