Filet mignon is a cut of beef taken from the tenderloin, alongside the strip loin. In French this cut can also be called filet de bœuf, which translates in English to beef fillet. The filet mignon is leaner but arguably the most tender of the steaks.   Sold as one pound, approximately two steaks.
