The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is the only public university in the nation's capital. It was established in 1851 as the Normal School for Colored Girls. In 1977, the university was formed through the merger of three schools. UDC serves about 5,000 students with a community college and a law school, offering bachelor's and graduate degrees in numerous subjects. Its main campus is on Connecticut Avenue NW near the Van Ness station.About the artist:Carlos Carmonamedina studied Fine Arts in Mexico and Romania.
