Lantern- Rock ‘N’ Roll Rorschach LP.  Lantern’s ‘Rock’n’Roll Rorschach’ comes in a mysterious sleeve with a group of hooded figures taking part in some kind of ritual involving a crystal ball and it’s almost a little misleading. Lantern's sound melts genres together. Put the needle to the groove and you have a glam-stomping mixture of lots of different ‘70s rock genres. There’s some Stooges-esque sax honking (and boy-girl vocals, both of whom seem to owe a fair debt to Iggy). Title opener ‘Evil-Eye’ sounds like Suzi Quattro-playing-’Lust For Life’, which delves into some wild wah-abusing guitar fun towards the end, and then dishing out a succession of hard rocking party-friendly cuts which sound surprisingly modern whilst subtley pilfering from the past. The downbeat ‘She’s A Rebel’ opens the B side and has a pure happy Velvets shambolic feel, while the title track sounds like ZZ Top on lots of bad speed. ‘The Conjurer’ heads out into a more occult warped blues ritual territory like F
