Mad Doctors/Sun Voyager- Split 7".  This is a tasty rock'n'roll single right here. Brooklyn’s Mad Doctors join forces with fellow Brooklynites Sun Voyager for this new split. Mad Doctors craft a genuine blend of pure hard edged rock’n’roll with a hint of surf on the A Side track “Rusty Knife.” It’s a tuff slab of proto-punk-infused blues rock that is loud, thunderous, and totally electric. On the flip, the Sun Voyager side starts with a strong motorik vibe a la Can’s ‘Mother Sky’ before getting into totally reverbed out vox and guitars. The riffs are conventional, but totally in the zone and very satisfying—while the track is a four-minute psych rock burner with a fat rhythm platform, the guitarist is zen enough to keep the lead playing to a minimum. And they throw in a sequence of little licks every few bars to provide a little texture and to keep it interesting.
