#277 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time Remastered 180-Gram Vinyl LP & 50th Anniversary Picture Disc Bowie’s sixth album, released in 1973, followed up his breakthrough album, The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars. Lacking the thematic flow found on its predecessor, Aladdin Sane was described by Bowie himself as simply “Ziggy goes to America.” Most of the tracks were observations he composed on the road during his 1972 US tour, which accounted for the place names following each song title on the original record label. Limited 50th Anniversary picture disc features the now-famous cover photograph taken by Brian Duffy, who also shot the sleeves for 1979’s Lodger and 1980’s Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps). 180-Gram: 2/26/16Picture Disc: 4/14/23
