Edward Wormley Dining Armchair for Dunbar
Walnut dining armchair with splayed back legs by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, USA, c.1960s. The seat cushion has been newly reupholstered in a Pierre Frey textured fabric - a perfect touch of elegance and sophistication. The chair has a center cane backrest with rounded curved armrests. Retains Dunbar label. Edward Wormley was a longtime director of design for the Dunbar furniture company and was one of the leading forces in bringing modern design into American homes in the mid-20th century. In the mid-1940s, Wormley guided Dunbar to devote their total production focus to modern furniture. His designs were included in the MoMA "Good Design" exhibitions of the 1950s besides Harry Bertoia, George Nelson, Charles & Ray Eames, among others.
