Spellbound in a mountain canyon

The start of the McGee Creek Canyon trail, is beautiful with the creek and the cottonwood trees and the steep mountsin calling for attention. But if you take the time to hike further up trail, perhaps a mile or so, the vista opens up into an incredible scene of geology and botany. The fractured, layered rock of the mountains, the cottonwoods, aspen and conifers spread out in the valley create a spellbinding scene. In the late afternoon the sun drops behind the mountains and lights up the storm clouds.
