Señor Jorge Guillén - Pit Viper Pottery - Mata Ortiz Mexican Pottery

Señor Jorge Guillén Width - 4.7 inches Height - 4.6 inches Weight - 12 ounces Artist Jorge Corona Guillén had created this unusual reptile effigy in clay. This pottery, with its mouth on the side, has a large prominent pit viper wrapped around it with its head extending over the top. A smaller lizard sits in front of the the snake. The scales of the snake are incredibly detailed and accurate. The flattened head is typical. And a fascinating aspect of this set is the matching ceramic pottery ring. This ring has a handle which is a similar snake head and scaled body.Señor Guillén signs his work on the underside of the pottery.
