One 6" kumihimo disk with 1 3/8" (3.5cm) center hole. The foam board disk is 1/2" (~1cm) thick. Why a bigger disk? No reason. Doesn't change your braid at all. Whether to use a 4" or 6" disk is just a matter of personal preference.
