#6793 Oni-Glazed cup

This cup measures  4.5  inches tall.  I invite you to look deeply at the remarkable texture and complexity that Oni-glazing creates. I've continued to explore "Oni-Glazing" for the last three years.  The complexity and elusiveness manage to delight and challenge me enough that I keep going. I'm especially interested in "unlearning" some of the things that were part of my early ceramic education:  I'm interested in crawling and dripping:  please notice how the drips and the crawling contribute to the overall fortitude and presence of the piece. Be sure to look at all of the detail images as well.  Some of the magic is most visible in the microcosm. This approach is my way of continuing to try to expand my visual literacy…to expand my understanding of beauty, and to keep trying to learn how to make the pots that I don’t yet know how to make.
