Mini GT Subaru Impreza WRC97 1997 Rally Sanremo Winner #3
The Subaru Impreza WRC97 was raced by Subaru World Rally Team, Subaru's factory team, and replaced the famous Subaru Legacy RS in 1993. The FIA (International Automobile Federation) replaced the GROUP A formula with a new Formula called World Rally Car. This gave teams greater latitude in design and materials including vehicle width, suspension geometry, aerodynamics, intercooler capacity and engine modifications. This led to a totally redesigned car, hence the new 1997 Impreza WRC97 design. This car is perhaps most well known for being driven by the legendary Colin McRae who started his professional career at the wheel of the Subaru Legacy RS. McRae won several rally championships and races with a few different manufacturers and was famously quoted as saying, "When in doubt, flat out", a saying that perfectly sums up his success in racing.
