The General Pump 100558 is a thermal protector that is used to protect a pump from excessive heat it is in bypass mode. When the valve senses a rise in temperature it opens, releasing heated water. Cooler water enters the pump to prevent it from overheating. The relief temperature is set at 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Designed to easily mount to the pump's inlet, supply line, or bypass loop. **All sizes come with 1/4" hose barb**
