Located at Hacienda San Jose del Refugio, in 1870, Casa Herradura was formed. This is the last tequila-producing Hacienda in the world. They pride themselves on creating some of the most exquisite tequilas out there, plus they were also the ones who changed the world of tequila forever by inventing the first reposado and extra añejo. Currently, they reside in a small town in the heart of Mexico called Amatitàn. So, what really makes a Hacienda authentic? It needs to have been built in the 18th or 19th century and needs to have a land extension, plus it needs to be self-sufficient in livestock or agriculture and have worker housing within its walls.
