Cardinals, also known as Red Birds are one of the most popular beautiful birds around. Perhaps it’s because they are around all year long for everyone to enjoy. Their red color is easily spotted in the winter when the trees are bare or when perched on a limb surrounded by pure white snow.  The brightest cardinal with deep red colors and the distinctive black mask is the male which makes him easily spotted. The female has a more subdued red color mixed with more brown and yellows. Did you know Cardinals live and keep their nests in the same general area? While they don’t always make their nest in the same spot or tree however, they live in one area because they do not migrate. Cardinals also mate for life! Yes, they have one mate and they spend their lives dedicated to each other. You’ll often find them gathering food and tending to their young together.
