ABOUT THE ART Drew's inspiration for this painting comes from being at The Wedge, a surf spot in Southern California: On a normal day, The Wedge is home to surfers, body boarders and paddle boarders. The Wedge is a famed surf spot in Newport Beach, CA, where the waves get HUMONGOUS a few times a year. When this happens, people from all over the world come to The Wedge to watch the madness of the surfers and body boarders who brave it.In the summer of 2016, a tourist, who rented a jet-ski, made headline news at The Wedge when he mistakenly drove his jet ski, with a girl on the back of it, into a giant, heaving wave. Then, he ran the ski straight into the Jetty! It was all caught on video, and watching the footage is like watching a train wreck - you can't stand it but you can't take your eyes off of it.
