Stella Blue Winter Squash - Organic
105 Days to Maturity. Certified Organic. Stunning and delicious kabocha-type winter squash. Steely blue rind contains deeply rich, orange flesh that stores well into winter. Bred by Bill Reynolds, and well adapted to drought. Transplant or direct seed after last frost. Start indoors 2-3 weeks prior to planting, and transplant at 1st or 2nd true leaf. If direct seeding, sow 2-3 seeds every 2' and thin to 1 plant once seedlings have true leaves. Cover against pests from planting until flowering if possible. Cure for 2 weeks for optimal flavor, then eat within 5 months. Harvest fruits when point of attachment to vine dries down, before first freeze, or when foliage dies.
