Castle & Key, 'Restoration' Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey, Kentucky, 750mL

In the meticulously renovated destination distillery built by Colonel E.H. Taylor in 1887, inspired by classical European architecture that features a castle, springhouse and sunken garden, Will Arvin and Wes Murry brought this historical bourbon palace back to life.  Featuring locally sourced grains and unique mash bills Castle & Key has been awaited with much anticipation and the first release has proven that this will be a Kentucky distillery to watch and collect. Only 60 barrels are released per batch. Batch #1 from 2022 features aromas of  spearmint, graham cracker crust, dried cherries, orange peel, cedar, nutmeg & dill. On the palate comes forward caramel, baked apples, cinnamon, clove & lemon zest, with a sweetness tempered by a pop of spice. Outstanding!
