Mumm Napa 2017 Eclipse Blanc de Noirs

On August 21st, 2017, we were treated to a very special solar eclipse, right in the middle of harvest. In honor of that special day, we made a Blanc de Noirs blend from vineyards harvested the day of the Eclipse itself. This wine has a lovely, pale copper color. Aromas of juicy orange, strawberry, nectarine, and yellow plum complement the toasty biscuit notes coming from 4 and a half years on the yeast. The wine opens with a burst of red apple followed by gilled bread and toasty yeast flavors. A fine and persistent mousse and bright acid profile play into a powerful structure typical of Pinot Noir. The long finish carries into notes of strawberry and dried peaches.
