The "Gilded Candelabra Aloe", or the "Striped African Torch Aloe" is a popular cultivar of Aloe arborescens which tends to be slower growing and smaller in size. Grows long arching rosettes, forming thick, large leaves, slightly recurved at the ends and display a variegated strip pattern. It grows up to 10 feet (3 m) tall given favorable conditions. Occasionally it produces tubular, red flowers in erect terminal racemes that may appear in winter once the stalk matures. Can be used much as the standard plant (for example as a "living fence") but it's variegation makes it a potential focal point in the garden., Less tolerant of full sun and high heat than the standard Aloe arborescens.
