Aloe capitata "Yellow Hoodie" is a cultivar (originally from Madagascar), recognized for its striking foliage and unique bright yellow flowers hoods. Forming a dense rosette of fleshy, gray-green leaves, it grows up to 2-3 feet tall and wide. The leaves, featuring small, sharp, brown teeth along the margins, can exhibit colors ranging from bluish to pink or dark red, depending on sun exposure. In mid-winter, this aloe produces up to 3-foot-tall inflorescences with dense spherical racemes of orange buds that open to orange-yellow bell-shaped flowers. Native to the southern part of Madagascar's central highlands, it thrives on quartzite soils at altitudes of 3,200 to 5,200 feet. The plant name reflects its capitate (head-like) flower clusters and quartzite habitat. Aloe capitata prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained soil, with low water needs and drought tolerance, making it suitable for xeriscaping. It is hardy to temperatures as low as 25°F, or 20°F on slopes where cold air
