Aloe cheranganiensis - 5ga
Aloe cheranganiensis, or Cherangani Hills Aloe, is a fast-growing shrubby aloe native to Kenya’s Cherangani Hills, reaching about 3-4 feet tall and wide. It has narrow, pale to mid-green leaves with light-colored teeth along the edges, forming dense rosettes that branch from the base. The plant is particularly known for its salmon-orange flowers, which bloom in mid-fall and early winter. These flowers emerge from red buds on tall, conical inflorescences, attracting hummingbirds and providing seasonal color. Aloe cheranganiensis thrives in full sun, requires occasional to infrequent watering, and is cold-hardy to around 25°F, making it suitable for xeriscape gardens and regions with mild winters. It prefers well-drained soil and can withstand summer drought. Native to rocky and sandy soils at altitudes of 1,200-2,000 meters, it is part of a group of central African tetraploid aloes.
