Aloe ciliaris - 4in
Aloiampelos ciliaris, formerly known as Aloe ciliaris, also called the 'Climbing Aloe,' is a fast-growing succulent native to South Africa. Its long, thin stems spiral upward, reaching up to 30 feet, with bright orange-red flowers. The leaves, armed with soft white teeth, act as hooks for climbing. It blooms almost year-round, with peak flowering in late winter and early spring. Introduced in 1821, it's adaptable and widely cultivated. Thriving in full sun, it tolerates high rainfall but needs well-drained soil. Frost-sensitive, it's best protected from freezing temperatures. In gardens, it serves as ground cover, vine, or hedge, thriving with support. Easy to propagate, it grows from cuttings and forms a rounded mound if stems root on the ground.
