Aloe decurva, commonly known as Mount Zembe Aloe, is a succulent endemic to Zembe Mountain in the Manica Province of Mozambique. It forms dense, usually solitary rosettes of dull green leaves with reddish-tinged margins and orange-tipped teeth, growing up to 22 inches long and 4 inches wide. In winter, it produces vibrant orange flowers on unbranched inflorescences up to 3 feet long. It thrives in montane grasslands on steep rocky slopes at elevations from 3,000 to 3,380 feet. Aloe decurva is relatively low-maintenance, requiring well-drained soil, bright indirect light indoors or light shade outdoors, and infrequent watering. Hardy to temperatures as low as 25°F, it is suitable for USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 9b to 11b. With its dense rosettes and vibrant flowers, it adds an attractive touch to gardens, whether as a solitary specimen or in mixed succulent arrangements. Images of mature specimens shown for reference.
