Its small portable size and being USB powered make it an ideal network traffic sniffing device for monitoring and troubleshooting data traffic in a 10/100Base-T Ethernet network. Model DCSW-1005PT is further compatible with "Power over Ethernet" (PoE) with so that deployment of a DCSW-1005PT Network Tap would not block the end-to-end flow of PoE inline power, which is a very useful feature for monitoring or capturing data traffic of a PoE Ethernet link.
