LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL, ITALY

Latin Name:  Citrus limon  Part of Plant:  peel Country of Origin:  Italy Method of Production:  Expressed   Citrus x limon, also known as Citrus limonum and commonly known as Lemon, is a small evergreen tree that is a member of the Rutaceae botanical family.  The origins of the lemon seem to be shrouded in mystery.  Some sources suggest that it is thought to be a cross between a lime and a citron, though they do not necessarily agree on the specific species.  Others think that it is a hybrid of something else.  There are even those that believe it is not a separate species, but a descendant of another citrus.  To confuse things further, there does not seem to be a consensus on the definite place of origin.  Regardless of its origins, it is a popular citrus fruit that is known for its use in the food and flavor industry.    Lemon essential oil has a fresh, lemony aroma that blends well with other citrus, fir, and wood oils.  It is commonly blended with other oils like Ginger and Pepper
